Word of the Day: maelstrom (n):
____
Today I wanted to share a poem that I wrote with you guys. When I was younger I used to write poetry (of all kinds and styles from sonnets to Limericks to my own personal form) all the time. I have lost the vast majority of that writing. I would really like to get back into it. I miss it. I used to also read poetry all the time, which is something my Self is really craving right now. I love prose but there is something in poetry that cuts through cognition and seems to penetrate straight into my soul.
PS I am not 100 years old... yet.
Word of the Day: maelstrom (n):
1. a powerful often
violent whirlpool sucking in objects within a given radius.
The Many Wines
God has given us a dark wine so potent
that, drinking it, we leave the two worlds.
that, drinking it, we leave the two worlds.
God made Majnun love Layla so much
that just her dog would cause confusion in him.
that just her dog would cause confusion in him.
There are thousands of wines
that can take over our minds.

Don’t think all ecstasies are the same.
Jesus was lost in his love for God.
His donkey was drunk with barley.
Jesus was lost in his love for God.
His donkey was drunk with barley.
Every object, every being,
is a jar full of delight.
Be a connoisseur, and taste with caution.

Be a connoisseur, and taste with caution.
Any wine will get you high.
Judge like a king, and choose the purest,
not the ones adulterated with fear,
Judge like a king, and choose the purest,
not the ones adulterated with fear,
or some urgency about “what’s needed.”
Drink the wine that moves you
as a camel moves when it’s been untied,
and is just ambling about.

Turning 100
By Pratibha Anand
I turned 100 today
And I wonder whether
My life
Amounted to anything
Whether it was
Not just one
But two
Zeroes.
I made my bed this morning.
It took me some time
I’m not sure how long
But long enough
To wonder
About the people
Who tell me that
Time is precious especially
Now that you are older
I am sure you value it more
You honor it
Respect it
Do only
The necessary and essential
The important
Don’t you?
I am not all.
I do not know all.
The sacred in
Each day
One day
One year
One thing at a time.
I am one.
1.
