Affirmation: “I will get back up. Again, and again. The faster I recover from setbacks, the faster I’ll get to where I’m going in life.”

I had a really adventure filled day!
I woke up early to get ready and eat breakfast before my 7 am "Jungle Surfing Tour" pickup. The tour guide was really informative, engaging, funny, and sarcastic, and I learned so much about Queensland and Australia animals, botany, and ecology on the drive up to Port Douglas (and then to the Daintree Forest - the oldest continuous forest in the world and where 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites meet - in Cape Tribulation). In Port Douglas, we stopped at the Wildlife Habitat where I saw SO many of Australia unique rainforest birds and animals, all of which we were allowed to wander amongst. I also got to cuddle with kangaroos and hold a koala, a python, and a baby crocodile! The tourist-priced photo packages were well worth it! We also had "morning tea" in Port Douglas (which consisted of a choice between English Breakfast tea or coffee as well as tropical fresh fruit salad and mini danishes and Anzac "biscuits"). From there we drove to Cape Tribulation and took a ferry across the Daintree River into the forest. We stopped for lunch where I got a mediterranean barramundi wrap with olive oil and balsamic vinegar marinated eggplant, red pepper, spinach, goat cheese, and mashed avocado). I also got a large blueberry muffin, but it was pasty and didn't have any blueberries past the muffin top (so I ended up just eating the top).
From there, I went zip-lining through the jungle canopy, which was so much fun. On one of the zip lines, I was allowed to go upside down, which was really cool. Afterwards, we went for "organic biodynamic" homemade ice cream? I invite you guys to guess what flavor I ended up getting from the asterisked flavors in the picture below. (Hint: it is nature's own chocolate pudding).
After ice cream, came the crocodile boat tour. The weather was scalding and sticky and the mangroves were teeming with insects, but I suppose it was worth it because we were able to catch sight of a large crocodile as well as a handful of hatchlings.
I am sure I am leaving out a lot of details from my day, but we headed back on our two hour drive after that. I got back to the hotel past 7 pm and got dinner (mixed cheese platter with wholemeal crackers, a pear, and a bag of chocolate chip, mixed nuts, and "sultanas" trail mix). I also got a large piece of black forest cake which I stuck in the freezer and am going to eat before bed. I then showered, and I'm going to get caught up on some emails and relax for a bit. I don't have anything planned tomorrow morning, but I do have a pick up at 10 am for my 12:30 flight back to Sydney.

The Night Ocean
We are the night ocean
filled
with glints of light. We are the space
between the fish and the moon,
while we sit here together.
