Affirmation:“I am a powerful being capable of changing anything in my life. I welcome and embrace healthy changes into my life, and I let go of old habits and practices that no longer serve me.

I accept the necessary changes that need to take place in my life, and I let go of fear and worry. Everyday I grow stronger and more beautiful in this life.”

Let the Beauty We Love

Today like every other day, we wake up empty
and frightened. Don’t open the door in the study
and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.

Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.

I woke up at 5 am this morning after having gone to bed past 1 am in order to get to the airport by 7:30 am for my flight from Sydney to Auckland. My experience with Quantas was wonderful again - the meal was delicious and I watched two movies on the flight as well.

My descent into New Zealand was breathtaking. I am sorry that I am being so brief in my description, but words cannot do the verdant, lush, and magical beauty of this country justice.

After I reached Auckland, and went through customs and immigration, etc. I got to my hotel by about 4 pm. I unpacked a bit and freshened up before heading on my 16 kilometer "Coast to Coast Walkway" hike at 5 pm (which ended up being about 20 kilometers because I had to walk to the beginning of the hike and then walk another kilometer or 2 at the end to the bus stop and then walk back to my hotel). I ate dinner towards the end of the walk and it was a great time - I got to see all of Auckland's different sights, neighborhoods, parks, schools, museums, restaurants, shops, etc. It did get very cold and windy at the end, though.

When I finally got to the bus stop close to 9pm, I discovered that I didn't have any NZ dollars! I was the lucky recipient of 2 random acts of kindness that I want to share and intend to pay forward. I had befriended a guy my age from Burma while waiting for the bus and though he had a different bus to get on, he gave me $4 for my bus fare. When I got on the bus, I was informed that the fare was $5. I was almost in tears, but the bus driver said that he would wave the extra dollar. I felt so grateful.

I got back to the hotel and ate a bowl of granola and yogurt as well as a chocolate bar before getting to bed past midnight again. It was a long but wonderful day.
