Centering Thought: I accept where I am, here and now.

… but I think that they all boil down to a lack of acceptance and high degree of resistance.
We often talk about the mind games people play with one another, but what about the mind games we play with ourselves? These types of games may show up in the form of denial, wishful thinking, or any number of other ways, but they ultimately boil down to a lack of acceptance.
There are times in our lives when overwhelm overtakes us and we feel as though we are the concentrated mass of all matter before the big bang. In these times of heightened emotional stress and distress, we tend to do anything and everything in our power to more "away" from those things that are causing us these feelings. Ironically, the more we try to run from what is, the more we find ourselves backed into a wall. We find ourselves in a cage of our own making, constantly in run from the world like a culprit in run from the law.
In times like these, the best thing we can do is lean in. The best thing we can do is move "towards" the source of our discomfort and the source of our pain. When we find ourselves wanting to run, avoid, or deny what is, the best thing we can do is take a deep breath and resolve to move through with patience and self-compassion.
In situations of the mind and in matters of acceptance, the only way out is through.
Mantra: I accept where I am, here and now. What I resist will persist.

- Close your eyes and begin to be aware of your breath. Do not change the pattern of your breathing; simply notice the air flowing into and out of your nose.
- With an inhale, briefly hold your breath and notice your chest tense up. Bring to mind the areas of your life and self that are causing you to feel this way.
- With these areas in mind, slowly exhale. Feel your body relax and gently and effortlessly let blocked energy move through you and let go of what doesn't need to be held on to.
Mantra: I accept where I am, here and now. What I resist will persist.
Quotes:
For
me, personally, when I'm afraid of something - when you're afraid of something,
normally you try to go away, you try to avoid it. Instead of avoiding it, to
overcome your fear, I believe you need to embrace it.
- Georges St-Pierre
One
day I looked at something in myself that I had been avoiding because it was too
painful. Yet once I did, I had an unexpected surprise. Rather than self-hatred,
I was flooded with compassion for myself because I realized the pain necessary
to develop that coping mechanism to begin with.
- Marianne Williamson
You
cannot find peace by avoiding life.
- Virginia Woolf
