The way we overcome rumination is by acceptance and letting go.
If we did not follow through on a commitment, accept we can ACCEPT this fact, forgive ourselves, learn from our mistake, make a plan to succeed in the future, and LET GO of beating ourselves up about it.
Our past is what it is – we ACCEPT it and accept that the person we were then and the person we are now. We then LET GO.
Our future is not now. We ACCEPT that circumstances outside of our control may shape our future and the best thing we can do to influence our future is to do what is within our power in the present. Then we LET GO.
Regardless of the specifics, the way we overcome rumination is by ACCEPTANCE and LETTING GO.
